Match Report

For some bizarre reason we seem to struggle at Newcastle our record at their ground reads W2 D6 L8 December 2018 being the last time we won there.
Well nothing changed as we again lost missing a great opportunity to go third in the league and the record now reads W2 D6 L9

We can't even blame the cold as on a gloriously sunny day we managed to make life easy for the Magpies.

12 minutes Dawson gets booked which is early for a center half.24 minutes later Dawson miss controls the ball, wipes out the forward, play continues they get a weak shot at goal and how Fabianski and Diop managed to put that in the net thereafter is beyond me! To make matters worse Dawson gets a red card and we are now a goal down. 17 minutes later a routine catch for Fabianski and he drops the ball straight to their forward to tap in.
I think he was thinking of birthday cake as it was his birthday the next day, but fab you are supposwed to get presents not give them out?

Gifted two goals and down to 10 men Newcastle must have been thinking double figures in their half time talk.

Not to be as we started to turn the screw in the second half after 15 minutes of settling down. A couple of chances then on 73 minutes a lifeline as Diop made up for his mistake by powering in a header from a Bowen cross. 7 minutes later a penalty as VAR spotted a handball. Dispatched by Lingard was the comeback complete? No as they scored a late winner to dent our champions league hope.
